Who Are They?
The Sitting Tenants are more than just a band, but a Wiltshire based writing and performing collective, playing their own songs as a thumping, poppy Rhythm & Blues band, as well as regular acoustic gigs too. The band also wrote the radio play 'Austerity Street', and released six albums of their original material to date, plus gig all over the country, from Somerset festivals to headlining the Cavern club in Liverpool. Their overall sound has been described as 'classically English' with echoes of The Kinks, Donovan and The Las.
The band's songs, whilst being catchy and accesible, lyrically convey many social issues which working people face today. Many of these were incorporated into the musical written by the band entitled 'Austerity Street', which the band play in their live shows.
